Welcome to Delhi

As the 63^rd Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society visits the heart and capital of India after a long wait of 19 years, we await your participation in an ANCIPS with a difference and one that promises to be not just another conference but a complete mental health event.

From its last halt at Delhi in 1992, the caravan of ANCIPS has traversed the length and breadth of our country and now the city of Delhi awaits with eager anticipation its arrival here from  16^th Jan. 2011 (Sunday) to 19^th Jan  2011 (Wednesday).

We invite you to join this ANCIPS Caravan where you will meet the stalwarts of psychiatry and mental health from across the country and the globe to share professional, research, academic and clinical experience as well as professional and personal insights to further the knowledge and service delivery system.  

In keeping with the theme of the conference “Providing Mental Health Care to All”, the various forums at the ANCIPS-2011 shall provide platforms for experts from diverse areas related to psychiatry and mental health to meet, interact, exchange and deliberate in a truly multi-disciplinary milieu. In addition to psychiatrists and other mental health professionals also attending would be representatives of government and international bodies; those from policy, legal and regulatory authorities; NGOS and self-help groups, prominent pharmaceutical and healthcare providers and members of the general public. The ANCIPS-2011 would therefore provide the impetus for evolving policies, strategies and operational plans that can make delivery of mental health care for all a reality.    

We invite you to be a part of this movement, the ANCIPS-2011 shall provide intellectual space for all:  from the student to the expert, the lab based researcher to the caring clinician, the avid academician to the community care professional, from the biological to the social psychiatrist, the pure pharmaco-therapist to the practicing psychotherapist; as well as for the deeply committed audience who will be  attending to learn and apply this information and knowledge in its daily practice, and without whom all this shall but exist in vacuum.

With ANCIPS-2011, the ANCIPS GOES GREEN. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, to use environment friendly materials and utilize available information technology to the best possible way in order to make the ANCIPS as environment friendly as possible.

With ANCIPS-2011, the ANCIPS is definitely slated to be turning into a National Mental Health Event. While being a complete high-end conference it aims to set new benchmarks. Attracting to its scientific core, it shall yet provide adequate opportunities for fellowship, networking, and relaxation. A scientific fiesta and fellowship feast with exclusive cultural, local and accompanying person programs. Various pre-conference events for mental health care users and general public shall roll out much earlier. These will include awareness lectures, activities for schools, corporate bodies, NGOs and other groups beside regular features in print and electronic media and a retrospect of Indian Cinema with mental health themes. At the conference there shall be an excellent trade promotion exhibition and thereafter post conference advocacy. We invite you to volunteer to participate in any of these activities.  

The beautiful city of Delhi with its enhanced infrastructure following the Commonwealth Games and its crisp champagne like rosy winter of January 2011 awaits you with a warm welcome.
