Dear Colleagues

It is with great pleasure we invite you to join the 3rd Biennial Conference of HIV Medicine Association of India. We have decided to organize this conference meeting every alternate year to ensure optimal use of resources and bring more novelty and value to the content. In between these conferences we continue to organize focused workshops, monothematic symposiums, advanced courses and participate in sessions within other national and regional meetings.

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has dramatically altered the clinical course of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. However, we are now confronted with other issues relating to ageing as patients live longer on stable ART. It is critical to understand these problems and discuss optimal strategies for their monitoring and management in the Indian context.

Emerging scientific evidence for an expanded role of using ART for prevention of HIV transmission is compelling. However we are unsure about how to translate this evidence into practice, both at the clinic and program level. We need to debate on these aspects and try to develop strategies of incorporating these advances into practice in India. Working together on implementing comprehensive prevention may end the AIDS epidemic in this country.

We have developed a conference program to update and debate upon these issues and provide you an opportunity to upgrade your skills for management of people living with HIV in the clinic. Apart from plenary and didactic lectures, we have incorporated interactive clinical case discussions and debates into the 2 day program. We also invite researchers (and especially post graduates) to submit their abstracts for presentation at the meeting.

Finally we are grateful to our faculty both national and international and the British HIV Association (BHIVA) for associating with us. We hope you are able to join us in November for a productive meeting.
